TRITEC Developments is set to enter the lucrative Greek fibre-optic market ahead of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

This follows today’s announcement that G-Systems, one of Greece’s largest providers of test and measurement instruments and systems, has signed a new deal with TRITEC to distribute its range of fibre optic installation equipment in the country.

Spyros Stivaktas, Sales Manager for Greece at G-Systems, comments: "The deal comes at a crucial time in the Greek fibre-optic market, as Athens prepares for the 2004 Olympic Games. A lot of sports facilities as well as press, information and residential facilities will be constructed within the next two years. The majority of communications projects will be pure fibre based, as demand will be for high speed, high capacity telecoms and datacomms access.

"The majority of projects will be implemented by small to medium sized subcontractors, who will need high quality, reliable and cost-effective fibre installation equipment. This is why the TRITEC FASE II fusion splicer will be ideal for our marketplace. Furthermore, it is compact, easy to use and durable and is ideal in all conditions."

Jonathan Hunt, Sales and Marketing Manager at TRITEC, comments: "We are delighted to have joined forces with G-Systems at such an important time in Greece’s fibre market. Not only is the Olympic Games a huge opportunity, but fibre installations are extending across the whole urban network for other consumer-based applications such as Cable TV.

"Having just visited G-Systems and met with a number of their customers it seems that there is a lot of interest in our product range, and we look forward to working closely with G-Systems in the future."
